The civilian militia group conduct regular patrols in the desert south of Stanfield, Arizona. Similar armed civilian groups have been conducting patrols along the border to provide support to the U.S. Border Patrol and to call attention to illegal immigration and drug smuggling activity. Critics, however, see them as vigilantes.
